Could anyone recommend an aggressive compound, I have tried the 3M products Super Duty and Extra Cut and still have a little trouble removing scratch marks. Is there any other brand that is a little more aggressive that I might try.

what are you trying to remove scratch marks IN? If you STILL have scratch marks after that stuff, you need to sand with a WAY finer grit sand paper. What grit are you using? What is it on, ect...

I usually buff within 24-48 hours of painting and am trying to remove 1500 to 2000 grit marks. I clear with UPOL or Finish 1 720. Do you think I need to go finer with the paper? Usually, I start out with a wool pad and then go to a foam pad. I can still see some scratch marks but maybe I am just to picky

You should NEVER have to use the aggressive compounds on fresh clear. ESPECIALLY using 2000 grit paper. What brand of paper are you using?

I use 3m perfect-it compounds and either 3m paper or mirka. Mirka is a little more aggressive for the same grit(there 2000 grit would be like an 1800 grit) but I havent had any problems with the scratches.And I'm REAL picky about sandscratches in polished clear!

I am begining to think that I need to work harder with the compounds I have. I am trying to get rid of the scratches with one application and one series of passes. Maybe I need to reapply the compounds until the scratches are removed instead of expecting them to come out with one application of a more agressive compound.

yes you have to do it in stages. The aggressive compounds will leave scratches. start off with the perfect it compounds and finish up with there glaze/polish. You will leave tiny scratches even with the finer compounds. Thats there job, to remove the 2000 grit scratches. Then the polishes remove the perfect-it scratches.
