Totally new to pinstriping
hello everyone
I have a windshield repair & headlight restoration service and have been looking into getting into painted pinstriping cars on the car lots I work also. We do not have a local pinstriper, one would come in maybe every two or three months to do the cars that need to be done then leave town. I asked one of our car lots if I bought a striper and did practicing would they be willing to use me on their cars, We did come up with the idea to start with their used cars just to get the feel of it till they are comfortable with me to do their new cars. I feel that is fair to me...
They only want a long double stripe on their car to brake it up with a line.
I have been reading up on the stripers and found that the Beugler Striper is the one to use... I bought a Deluxe Beugler with a magnetic strip the start with, I will most likley buy Pro striper for another color and another magnetic srtip so I can lay them both down on both sides for a faster eye ball for left and right side...
I have striped trailers in the past with one similar to the beugler just on the frame and fenders.
*****What I would like to know is how do you know were to put the stripe on a car? Is there any area better from one to another on the cars or trucks. Or is it just a feel on what you may think would looks good the the eye?
Or even the colors to use on the car...
When I asked the dealer what they liked about some of the stripers that have been there in the past, They said the touch that one added was that he had a small vinyl decal of the make that he added to the front end inline with the striping.
Like having the Toyota logo or scion, ect..
Does anyone have a source on these? or would that just be from a local vinyl sign shop?
I am one that likes to learn as much as I can, and have been watching the pinstripers when the come in and work on the cars. I like watching all the venders and wonder if I can do some of it my self. So I am going to try it out and hope I get the hang of it myself..
Sorry for such a long winded starting post, but I am eager to get into this and hope to learn more as I go...
I use this line to others that say they can't do something. "Everyone is born stupid, You learn as you go"
I feel I am a jack of all trades, master of none.
Thanks for your time
