Sealer is a undercoat. It helps adhesion of the base coat also. So your base dosent soak into the primer and you would have to lay multiple basecoats to get better coverage. Alot of kustom shops primer kits are sealers also. Only difference is your reducing the primer with reducer to make it sealer. Primer it first get everything straight, then seal it. Just let the sealer flash like 15 mins or so @ 70 degrees before you start laying basecoats. The reducer will evaporate/flash off. So basically sealer could be considered a primer basecoat in a way. But just from laying sealer wont make the paint job last longer. The quality of the product will do that. And the overall weather conditions the paintjob sets in all the time will determine the lasting of the paint job. Also sealer helps with leveling the paint job before you lay basecoats. But it wont fill dents and dings etc.
